FA Cup Liverpool's season rests on Cup game

Liverpool's season rests on Cup game

7th April 2015

Gary Bowyer’s team have already enjoyed FA Cup wins at Ewood Park against Premier League teams this season with Swansea City and Stoke City coming unstuck in east Lancashire.

Now that there’s a chance of a trip to Wembley with Aston Villa awaiting the winners later this month, the 31-year-old says both teams will be putting their recent league form out of the window in a bid to reach the last four.

Rovers experienced defedner Matt Kilgallon told the FA website "It's such a big game on Wednesday, as you'll be playing at Wembley in the next game and this is what everyone dreams of," he told Rovers Player, after their 3-0 victory over Leeds United in the Championship at the weekend.

"[Form] will be all forgotten about and you have to take it as another game against Liverpool.

"They'll be concentrating on us and we've been focused on the league games but now we can start talking about it, it’s the time to go out there and make yourself proud.

"The next game is at Wembley, so what more do you need in your head to say: ‘come on, let's play well'?”

More to the point though is how Liverpool line-up after players seemed ill at ease with Brendan Rodgers formation against Arsenal.

The market suggests this is a foregone conclusion but Rovers have been well organised under Bowyer and there will be no gung ho approach even with a full house at Ewood.

Liverpool are 1/2 to try and improve on the 0-0 draw at Anfield - but Rovers at 5s to cause a shock look interesting. Play safe and lay the Reds as well
