INTERNATIONALS ENGLAND TO PLAY TO EMPTY HOUSE

ENGLAND TO PLAY TO EMPTY HOUSE

12th October 2018

England face Croatia in the much maligned Nations League at the small stadium at Rijeka.

Croatia normally play in the much larger stadium in Zagreb. But a UEFA ban fro crowd misbehaviour sees England face Croatia - who beat them in the World Cup semis not four months ago - in an empty stadium

Over 500 England fans made travel plans before the ban was confirmed and they are expected to try and get to the stadium. Whether any get in remains to be seen.

The market can't decide who benefits from the situation with the home side marginally favourite and England a best priced 2/1 and the draw 5/2 in what is almost a 100% book - best price percentage.

Gareth Southgate has five uncapped players in the squad and likely starters Ben Chillwell (1 cap) Joe Gomez (4 caps) lack international game time.

The home side have Player of the Year, Luka Modric in midfield and overall they look a better outfit. Their only weak spot is rookie 'keeper Dominik Livakovic who has just one cap.

Englands recent form has been suspect but they have face quality opposition - which they do again. On balance the draw at 5/2 looks value in what will be a close match.
